Explosion-Proof Zipper
Overview
A zipper is a system: chain, tape, slider, stops and end treatment must match the application. Most field failures come from a mismatch between these parts or from a process step that was skipped — not from the teeth themselves.
Production Notes & QC Checkpoints
What decides whether this product performs in the field — and what to verify before each shipment:
| Checkpoint | What goes wrong | Verification |
|---|---|---|
| Specify the full construction | Chain type, size, tape width, slider type, stop type and end treatment (closed-end / open-end / two-way) all need to be on the PO. | Match every PO line against the approved sample |
| Stop strength | Top and bottom stops fail before the chain does. Confirm stop type and strength for the load. | Stop-strength test per order requirement |
| Colour and finish | Tape dye lot and metal plating lot must be kept together; mixed lots show on the finished product. | Golden sample comparison under D65 |
| Packing and transport | Bulk packing without support deforms sliders and kinks chain. Confirm packing method for long zippers. | Sample check after transport |
| Traceability | Keep batch references per carton so defects can be traced back to a production run. | Batch label on every carton |
Buyer FAQ
Q1. How do I specify a zipper correctly?
State chain type and size, tape width and colour, slider type, stop type, end treatment (closed, open, two-way) and the length with tolerance. A sample or drawing makes it unambiguous.
Q2. What is the difference between closed-end and open-end?
Closed-end zippers are joined at the bottom and are used for bags and pillow covers. Open-end zippers separate completely and are used for jackets. Two-way zippers open from both ends.
Q3. Which standard applies to my order?
Common standards are ASTM D2061 (US), BS 3084 (UK) and QB/T 2171–2173 (China). Name the standard and acceptance values in the PO so test reports can be issued against it.
Q4. Can you match tape colour to my fabric?
Yes, against a swatch or Pantone reference. Keep the approved sample; repeat orders are matched to it.
Q5. Do you supply zipper rolls or finished lengths?
Both. Continuous rolls suit automated cutting; finished lengths with stops and end treatment suit cut-and-sew lines that do not carry zipper machinery.
